During the conference, solution descriptions were uploaded to the CWIX 2023 portal, the areas where testing would take place were agreed, and information was collected about systems planned to participate in the LAND FOCUS AREA group.
The CWIX interoperability exercise—an annual initiative of the Allied Command Transformation (ACT)—is scheduled for 5–23 June 2023 at the Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC) in Bydgoszcz.
KenBIT plans to deploy as part of the CWIX 2023 exercise the HEKTOR platform—software solution comprising four components:
- Combat Identification Server HEKTOR / CIS HEKTOR
- Headquarters Management System HEKTOR / HMS HEKTOR
- Battlefield Management System HEKTOR / BMS HEKTOR
- MEWA MED — the teleinformatics component supporting evacuation of soldiers from the battlefield using unmanned systems (new solution)
CIS HEKTOR (Combat Identification Server) — an integrator that significantly increases situational awareness during joint operations, mainly by: identifying friendly and allied military objects, exchanging this type of data between branches of the armed forces, improving troops’ security and, consequently, increasing the effectiveness of their operations.
HMS HEKTOR (Headquarters Management System) and BMS HEKTOR (Battlefield Management System) provide the following service scope:
- a multi-purpose software platform for battlefield command
- ability to cooperate with systems of lower and higher echelons using standard information-exchange protocols used in NATO, including MIP, NFFI, and ADatP-3
- the ability to gain an information advantage by creating and significantly increasing situational awareness
- creation of a Combined Operational Situational Picture using, among others, the NVG standard
- presentation of information processed by computing servers over digital tactical map layers
- operation under control of different operating systems
- a scalable platform enabling configuration for distributed processing environments with load balancing
- ability to operate in both embedded and classic client-server environments
- a simplified user interface optimized for quickly achieving intended effects
- ability to use and deliver topographic overlays distributed using WMS (Web Map Service) technology or directly from data files (supporting several dozen data formats, including CADRG and DTED)
- mission planning, visualization (per APP-6A and MIL-2525B, with MIP programme extensions), and full handling of plans, orders, reports, in accordance with STANAG 2014
- maintaining a combat action log
- fast text message exchange in line with the XMPP protocol
- collaborative work for plans and orders
- generation and receipt of medical evacuation communications (MEDEVAC and CASEVAC), etc.
- system modularity enabling high configuration flexibility
It uses new technologies and solutions:
- Java programming language
- independence from the operating system
- modular design
- application server
- Oracle and PostgreSQL databases
- EJB technology
- Hibernate framework
- JAAS
The MEWA MED software module (mobile version) will secure capabilities by applying:
- an Information Display component from BSP in operator mode
- a BSP flight route programming component
- an exchange-of-information component via field communication means
- an operational situation component of the battlefield
- a troop movement tracking component (NFFI and FFT)
- an operational graphics component
- a reporting component (AdatP-3)
- a software integration component
- a notification component for the status of medical resources
- support for the incident management process
At the CWIX 2023 exercise location, depending on agreements made during the other planning conferences, KenBIT plans to expand:
- a battalion command post (servers, workstations)
- a brigade command post (servers, workstations)
- the mobile communications system BITCOM
- commissioning for testing the latest versions of the components: CIS, BMS, HMS HEKTOR and the MEWAMED component
