Laser Warning Receiver System

SOL-1

KenBIT offers a laser irradiation warning system that detects and identifies laser irradiation of a command vehicle by enemy fire means and technical devices equipped with laser rangefinders or illuminators.

The use of the system allows for the recognition of combat activity of the above means and enables appropriately early execution of effective countermeasures in the form of smoke screening of the area of operation or stopping the vehicle and its crew disembarking. Thanks to cooperation with the FONET internal communication system, all information about the existing threat is transmitted to the vehicle's functional personnel.

The system can be used for the same purpose to protect other than vehicle objects, e.g. flying, surface and ground objects: mobile or stationary such as bridges, command points, warehouses, etc.

The system was developed in cooperation with the Institute of Optoelectronics of the Military University of Technology.

The system consists of three basic functional units

  • A set of detection heads

  • Monitor unit - display

  • Control unit with RS-232 interface

The SOL-1 system integrates and signals alarm signals coming from the following sensors

  • Radiation contamination sensor (RAD)

  • Chemical contamination sensor (CHEM)

  • Radar irradiation sensor (R-LOK)

  • CO sensor (CO)

  • Smoke sensor (DYM)

Information about the existing threat from the appropriate sensor can be transmitted automatically via HF/VHF radio communication means to the higher echelon and visualised in the ZMP application on a digital map.

Information from detection heads about laser irradiation and its direction is transmitted to display units installed in the driver's cabin and inside the command vehicle, as well as an alarm in the form of an audible signal being generated. Such distribution of information enables a quick and situation-adequate response by the crew to the threat signal, regardless of the tasks being performed.

Technical data

  • The system detects laser radiation in the spectral range of 800-1700nm

  • Detection of all currently used sources of laser radiation in military applications such as:

  • Laser rangefinders with direct reception

  • Laser rangefinders with sub-noise reception

  • Laser designators and laser guidance devices built based on semiconductor lasers [850-950nm], neodymium glass Nd:YAG [1060-1064nm], erbium glass [1540nm] and Nd:YAG with Raman shift [1540nm]
