Integrated Communication System

NEPTUN

KenBIT's Maritime Division in Gdynia is the contractor of Integrated Communication Systems on vessels. They enable radio communication with land stations, other vessels and aircraft. Depending on the system configuration, either unclassified or encrypted communication in the national or NATO system is possible. The systems provide transmission and reception in the HF and VHF/UHF bands, satellite communication, and reception in the VLF band.

The NEPTUN Shipborne Integrated Communication System, along with its components, is always tailored to the needs of the end user, both in terms of system configuration as well as the design and manufacture of individual devices that comprise it.

Modularity

The system is assembled depending on the user's needs and may consist of the following elements:.

The components of the NEPTUN system are assembled in standard 19” RACK-type cabinets. These devices are also adapted for mounting outside RACK cabinets (with or without shock absorbers).

Basic components of the NEPTUN system

VT-Sec

The VT-Sec special communication terminal is a basic element of the audio subsystem of the Shipborne Integrated Communication System (OZSŁ). It constitutes the termination of the RED side (according to BTP0-701B terminology) of the signal path, enabling the operator to conduct remote voice communication by radio in unclassified or encrypted form, using radio and cryptographic devices connected to the OZSŁ.

The terminal also enables direct (unclassified) communication between operators of VT-Sec terminals connected to the OZSŁ, in INTERCOM mode. Depending on the OZSŁ configuration and the privileges granted to users – it enables the selection of the operating mode (external communication unclassified/encrypted, internal – INTERCOM), and optionally the selection of the assigned communication channel.

The device can also directly cooperate with a speech encryption device (where there is no need to install the OZSŁ), as a remote point – enabling transmission, reception and switching of the operating mode (PLAIN N/SEC U RE) of the cooperating device
and radio station.

The device is adapted to the user's requirements.

KSR 4×4

The KSR 4×4 acoustic and control signal switch is used where HF and VHF radio station systems are installed that require simultaneous operation in connection with many different voice communication and digital transmission terminals. The switch enables the rapid set-up of the required configuration of signal and control lines. It is equipped with a legible alphanumeric display, a line selection button matrix containing LED optical signalling and memory selection control buttons.

The switch enables:

  • simultaneous connection of one cryptographic device with any one radio device or any one radio device with any one cryptographic device

  • simultaneous connection of up to four transmission channels

  • connection of a cryptographic device and radio in an ad-hoc-manual mode

  • automatic connection set-up based on memory storage

  • displaying text with a proposal to memorise introduced changes and the current switchboard configuration

  • possibility of restoring the crypto-radio device configuration that existed before the switch was powered off

  • highlighting selected lines on the matrix

  • remote control of the switch from a communication terminal

  • possibility of emergency connection of devices by manually plugging in cable line connectors

KSR 8×10

VTS/4

The VTS Interface is a device enabling the connection of VT-Sec terminals to the Integrated External Communication System (ZSŁZ). The VTS Interface is a maintenance-free device.

The VTS Interface is produced in four- and eight-channel versions, enabling the handling of 4 or 8 VT-Sec terminals respectively (interface names respectively VTS/4 and VTS/8). If there is a need to use a larger number of VT-Sec terminals, VTS interfaces can be connected in sections. The interface housing is made in the 19″ standard and is adapted for mounting in RACK-type cabinets.

The device is designed for cooperation with VT-Sec special communication terminals. It functions as a media converter (fibre optic-copper) and a matching system, which enables the coupling of VT-Sec terminals with radio means or speech encryption devices in the ship's communication system.

The device is adapted to the user's requirements.
