Master Clock Panel
KENCLOCK time master center was designed based on multifunction displays (MFD) and uses a master/slave architecture. On the touch-screen LCD, a digital display of both UTC and local time is shown. Control of the currently displayed image on all devices in the network is performed by the master clock. This means that any changes made at the time master center are automatically updated on the secondary clocks.
Communication with the devices is carried out using RS-232/RS-422 serial interfaces, as well as Ethernet (PoE). The master clock, as the data source, receives the signal from an external GPS receiver (in accordance with the NMEA0183 standard), from the built-in GPS receiver, or from a backup internal real-time clock. The secondary clock, if it loses communication with the master, switches to its internal time source.
The master center includes a time server function on the ship’s computer network using the NTP protocol, operating as a stratum 1 class reference.
