National Automatic Radio Spectrum Monitoring System

KASMON

KASMON enables monitoring of the operation of assigned frequencies, locating illegal emission sources, and detecting the use of the radio spectrum in a manner inconsistent with the license. Thanks to the implemented modern equipment (radio direction finders, radio receivers, spectrum analyzers, and antenna systems with antenna switchers and rotors) and specialized software,

KASMON provides an automated process for performing specialized measurements of radio emissions. The measurements are carried out in accordance with ITU-R recommendations. The operator receives processed measurement results in the form of map displays, as well as in the form of printed measurement reports.

In combination with Mobile Measurement Stations, KASMON is capable, even in urban conditions, of locating the signal source and providing extensive knowledge of the electromagnetic environment.

Software architecture

The KASMON control software is built on a multi-layer architecture. At each operator station of the measurement station, three components can be run: a local database, a remote access service (application server), and, if needed, a client application. This architecture is used both for local operation and for remote operation.

Software functions

  • Management of permissions and access to the station.

  • Station configuration management

  • Management of definitions of measurement procedures

  • Performing and scheduling measurements

  • Detection of illegal emissions

  • Monitoring and analysis of spectrum and frequency occupancy

  • Radio direction finding and location of emission sources

  • Amplitude radio direction finding by antenna rotation

  • Scheduling of direction finding / emitter tracking

  • Recording received signals and associating recordings with measurement tasks and bearings

Measurement functions

  • Measurement of the width of the emitted band

  • Measurement of the carrier frequency and permissible deviation

  • Measurement of the electromagnetic field strength

  • Measurement of the averaged signal level

  • Measurement of modulation parameters

  • Measurements using a mask

  • Preliminary classification of measurement results

  • Visualization of data from measurement devices (including remote ones)

  • Listening to and subjective assessment of the measured emission (including from remote receivers)

  • Generation of reports with measurement results

Client application functions

  • User interaction (task assignment, data entry)
  • Display of results and operation of hardware – report printouts
  • Application server functions (remote access services)
  • Supervision of shared access to equipment and resolution of access conflicts to devices
  • Execution of defined schedules
  • Saving work results to files and databases
  • Providing data required by the client application to it
  • Replication of data to the Central Database
  • Replication of configuration data from the Central Database
