KenBIT Sp. z o. o. has obtained the status of an enterprise of particular economic and defense importance.

On 3 November 2015, the Council of Ministers adopted a draft regulation on the list of enterprises of particular economic and defense importance (Official Journal 2015, item 1871, published on 13 November 2015). The draft was prepared in the Ministry of Economy to standardize the system for organizing and supervising the performance of defense-related tasks by manufacturers of armaments and military equipment. The regulation updates the list of new entities whose business activity is significant from the perspective of national security.

In the above regulation, KenBIT Koenig i Wspólnicy Sp. z o. o. in Warsaw was included under item 24 in Part I of the annex to that document. That section lists enterprises for which the organizing and supervising authority for carrying out defense-related tasks within the meaning of Article 5(3) of the Act of 23 August 2001 on organizing defense-related tasks carried out by entrepreneurs is the minister competent for economic affairs.

The regulation assumes concentrating the competences for organizing, supervising, and performing defense-related tasks in relation to companies of the Polish Defence Group under a single authority—the Minister of National Defence. The list will also include new entrepreneurs: seven entities under the competences of the Minister of Economy (including KenBIT Sp. z o. o.), two entities under the competences of the Minister of State Treasury, two entities under the competences of the minister competent for transport, three entities under the competences of the Minister of National Defence, and one entity under the competences of the Minister of Health.
