The CWIX interoperability exercise—an annual initiative of the Allied Command Transformation (ACT)—will take place from 12 to 30 June 2017 at the Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC) in Bydgoszcz. The exercise will test broad cooperation between participating nations’ information systems, mainly regarding the exchange of documents and operational data. The systems taking part in the exercise will operate within a shared network that enables the processing of classified information. Particular attention will be given to data exchange in accordance with the MIP standard (Multilateral Interoperability Programme) and NFFI (NATO Friendly Force Information).

As part of the deployed systems, the CIS HEKTOR (battle identification server) will be activated once again—an integrator that significantly enhances soldiers’ situational awareness during joint operations, primarily by: identifying friendly and allied military objects, exchanging data in this regard between branches of the armed forces, thereby increasing the level of troop security and, in turn, improving the effectiveness of their actions. It is based on the JC3IEDM model from the MIP programme. In addition, it enables data exchange via NFFI, NVG, and ADatP-3 standards.
CWIX 2017 will be conducted in the form of interoperability workshops, aimed in particular at defining new directions for technology development and at testing and validating the solutions implemented to ensure interoperability of NATO information and communication systems.
