The workshops are organized by the Allied Command Transformation, which tests the interoperability of increasingly complex teleinformation command-support systems.

This year, more than 800 participants from over 18 countries met to run interoperability tests across more than 180 command-support systems.

During the exercise, the BMS HEKTOR system achieved very high results, thereby confirming the correctness of the information-exchange standards implementation.

In the exercise configuration, the HEKTOR system acted as a BMS (Battlefield Management System), i.e., managing the battlefield and monitoring the position of friendly forces. For demonstration purposes, an NFFI (NATO Friendly Force Information) path simulator was launched, along with a command post vehicle status control module (combat) and a sensor simulator.

BMS HEKTOR presented an architecture enabling the system to be used across the entire command chain. Communication was demonstrated between the Operational Centre (Tactical Operational Center) and the command vehicle, together with WSP-2 (Portable Workstation), implementing a Mobile Command Post.

A key aspect was successfully conducting communication between the battalion command post and its subordinate company using a radio protocol.

Mission success and, above all, soldiers’ safety depend to a large extent on effective communication between the command structures of different nations. For this reason, for the fifth time in Bydgoszcz, KenBIT put its Combat Management system—BMS HEKTOR—through testing. All test cases in the main operational scenario of the Land Forces BMS HEKTOR system ended successfully, confirming the correct implementation of information-exchange standards with both national and allied command-and-control systems. As part of the workshops, BMS HEKTOR was tested in scenarios for Land Forces as well as Friendly Force Position Monitoring. It also interfaced with air systems and artillery systems.

CWIX is the largest, annual event of this kind authorized by NATO. It fits well with the “Smart Defence” concept and the “Connected Forces Initiative.” Both are implemented by pooling and sharing resources, as well as enabling the exchange of information among NATO member states and partner countries.
