Project title: "Medical Evacuation Module MEWA MED”
Agreement No. DOB-SZAFIR/09/A/047/01/2021 for the execution and financing of a project carried out for the defence and security of the state under the 1/SZAFIR/2020 competition by the Consortium consisting of:

The aim of the project is to develop the Mewa MED medical evacuation system, which is to consist of:
- the MEWA MED reconnaissance and evacuation subsystem
- the MEWA MED medical information management subsystem.
adapted to the tactics of the Polish Armed Forces in the area of broadly understood battlefield medicine, eliminating diagnosed system gaps, which will enable efficient management of the medical reconnaissance process, delivery of medical supplies directly to the battlefield and medical evacuation of casualties.
The project contractor is aware of the current state and limitations related to the functioning battlefield medical evacuation structure. Particularly noticeable is the lack of a dedicated IT system whose operation would be aimed at supporting the command and control process of Military Health Service sub-units.
The designed MEWA MED System will enable support for the command and control system of medical sub-units, particularly in the area of proper medical resource planning, will provide support in monitoring the current tactical situation and support the medical event management process using a reconnaissance drone, will enable support for rapid and, importantly, targeted redistribution of medical materials using a drone platform, and will enable support for forward medical evacuation from the incident site to the level of medical support defined in NATO as ROLE-1.
Its essence is to achieve a synergy effect allowing for a significant reduction in the time necessary for the evacuation of the wounded as a result of combining two components: an application enabling efficient management of the planning, coordination, command and monitoring of the evacuation of the wounded, and a wheeled platform along with three types of unmanned aerial vehicles providing reconnaissance of the medical situation, support for the redistribution of necessary medical materials and aerial transport of casualties.
The result of the project will be the creation of a prototype of the MEWA MED system based on the modular architecture shown in the diagram below:
The construction of the individual subsystems is based on an architecture consisting of functional modules, which in turn will consist of individual components, the development of which is the responsibility of the individual consortium members.

The figure below indicates the preliminary architecture of the Mewa MED subsystems, taking into account the existing interactions between them. The essential functions of the reconnaissance and evacuation subsystem are marked in blue, while the area belonging to the MEWA MED information management subsystem is indicated in yellow.
The project is financed by the National Centre for Research and Development under the research programme for the defence and security of the state entitled Development of modern, breakthrough technologies for the security and defence of the state, SZAFIR.
The project is implemented in the period 01.06.2021 – 31.05.2025.
